Chilly Day

Many people spend October 31st dressing up in strange costumes and "trick or treating." Often times, one could spend hours guessing exactly what the "trick or treater" is supposed to be. However, I, personally, do not think that this will be a problem for Mike and me. Since the temperature has been below zero most of the day, I have a sneaky feeling that these little kiddos will be bundled in nice warm coats with snow boots. With ease, we can hand out candy this evening and say, "Wow, aren't you a cute little eskimo!"

Snowy Days

Well, I do believe we have seen the snow that will last until next spring. It started snowing sometime during the night on Sunday and has not stopped. I am not sure how many inches we have, but it is certainly beautiful to watch!

An October Sunday

It may be time for a Fall wreath,

but there's no time like now for Christmas lights!

Have you ever wondered what some people do on a Sunday afternoon in October in the great state of Alaska? Personally, that question has never crossed my mind. However, since I am living the "dream," I can tell you what Mike and I are doing on a Sunday afternoon in the great state of Alaska.

Since the weather is relatively mild for this time of year (i.e. it is not 20 below zero and it is not snowing), Mike decided to hang our Christmas lights on the house. We had noticed that many neighbors already have their's hung and ready for Christmas back in September. Fearing that we may be left out, Mike dug out the lights, untagngled them, checked the bulbs, pulled out the ladder and began to hang the illuminations of joy along the eaves of the roof.


Fearing that a ladder is not necesarrily the safest place for Mike, I grabbed my camera, put on my "Safety Control" hat and supervised. Thus far, Mike has been VERY safe on the ladder. Of course, it got a little cold for me and I came back inside to update the blog. I suppose I should stick my head out the door to check on him. Hang on, just one second. LONG PAUSE...... Okay, he is just fine.

While Mike is hanging Christmas lights and I am taking pictures, the kitties are doing what they do best. Sleeping. Abigail is snoring. AC has been passed out since 9:00 a.m.. And, Francie is pretending to sleep in the chair.

All of this rambling is to say, that on an October Sunday in North Pole, Alaska, there are two people who have nothing better to do than hang Christmas lights, take pictures and blog about it. Hopefully, within the next few weeks, I will have something more to blog about. Shall I say SNOW????
