Day 2 of Camping in Denali

Day 2 was not much different from day 1.  It is still cold.  It is still raining.  And, it is still windy.  The only minor difference is that Mike and I took the bus out to Toklat River and went on a small hike around the riverbed, where we saw lots of grizzly tracks.  Too bad we didn't actually see the grizzly.  Enjoy the pictures of our day!

Arctic ground squirrel, a bear's favorite spring snack!

Bear tracks!  If we follow them, maybe we will find the grizzly!

 No grizzly, more tracks.

 Grizzly vs. Caribou

 Apparently, the caribou won out!

Does this fur make my behind look fat?

Dall sheep graze on the mountain side.

Mike and I enjoyed a quiet lunch in a ditch on the Toklat Riverbed.

Mike boils water for our cup of noodles. A very romantic meal!
Mike braces for the wind and the rain. (By the way, it has rained almost non-stop since we got here. It was 45 degrees in our camper this morning and I could see my breath).

A view of the Alaska Range mountains.
