Mike and I drove from Dawson Creek to Muncho Lake (British Columbia) on Thursday. It was a beautiful drive through the Canadian Rockies. We saw several large animals along the way. We saw a beautiful gray wolf sitting on a hill right by the highway. We drove past it before I could ever think about getting the camera.
Next were two dead moose. Unfortunately, they were the victim of people driving entirely too fast on narrow, two lane roads. Later in the afternoon, we came across several herds of caribou. They were incredible. They would be grazing just off the side of the road. It was so easy to get some good shots.
When we arrive in Muncho Lake, we were surprised that it was nothing more than a wide spot in the road. Literally, a wide spot. The only thing located at Munch Lake, which is still frozen, was our hotel. It was a beautiful log cabin style lodge with a view of the frozen lake.
The snow is still deep, even though temperatures have reached into the 70’s. The days are long. The sun is coming up around 4:30 a.m. and setting around 10:30 p.m. In fact, as I right this, it is 9:15 p.m. and the sun is still shining as bright as it was at 3:00 this afternoon.
