Yukon Territory

On Friday, Mike and I drove to White Horse, Yukon Territory. There was not much action other than several herds of buffalo grazing near the highway. We pulled off to take a couple of pictures. Before anyone asks, we did not get out of the car. We took pictures from the safety of inside the car. With that said, after about two minutes of shooting pictures, one particular buffalo decided he was finished with the photo shoot. He raised his head and shook it back and forth. Then, he came charging down the hill toward the car. I dropped the camera and yelled at Mike, “Go! Go! Go!” Moving at a snail’s pace, Mike looked up and saw the charging buffalo. He put the car in drive and spun gravel as we took off just before the massive animal got to us. It made for a little excitement, but not much.

I am still waiting to see a bear. I am beginning to think that I may have to wait until we get to Fairbanks and go to the landfill to see them scavenging through the trash. If I decide to take this measure to see a grizzly, I will be certain to take a camera, Mike for protection, and my health insurance card.

Enjoy the pics and God bless!
Welcome to the Yukon Territory!

Watch out for buffalo!

After lunch nap.

These buffalo are too close to the highway. We saw several that had been hit by cars.

Snack Time

A picnic lunch for three buffalo.
